I finally signed out of residency today. Free at last.   I started the program on Aug 1, 2005... not knowing much about orthodontics.  I'm thankful for these past 2 yrs of training. We had a school-wide graduation in May and dinner at the H club (which was a nice treat after Boards).  But it was back to work w/clinic, mock Board & research presentations. When last Thurs came along... it wasn't a surprise when we got this from our director at the graduation dinner:

Still haven't gotten the real certificate... but it was nice to say good-bye today. Even though we all had to get through a few hurdles, I'll it was days like this...

that reminded me why I wanted to be an orthodontist.

kinda anticlimactic considering that we had to go in the next day for the usual morning conference.  only 7 more case presentations + research to wrap-up.  officially done on the last day of july!  lots of good things have been happening each day.  recently found 'work' in the city (chinatown).  been having fun planning + preparing for the wedding... according to our website www.koandchow.weddings.com, just 80 days til we're married!

Adventures with kokoclown in the big appo!

nyc marathon in january!

~ post-marathon highlights ~

Staten Island: the Start

“Let us run with perseverance the race marked for us” Hebrews 12:1

image

Brooklyn: over the Verazanno Bridge

“Run in such a way as to get the prize.” 1 Corinthians 9:24

image

Queens: where KoKo lives

“We are fools for Christ” 1 Cor 4:10

image

Bronx: crossing the East river

“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united with his wife, and the two will become one flesh”  Matthew 19:5

image

Manhattan: home stretch into Central Park

“I have fought the good fight.  I have finished the race.  I have kept the faith.”  2 Timothy 4:7

image

Explored the boroughs of NYC  and conquered them 13 1/2 hours later.  I appreciate Koko's thoughtfulness.   Having him take the lead at 10 am and stay along with me the whole way on Saturday made it the best marathon that I've experienced so far.   These past few years, I've been running by myself.  If I had to choose between running with Koko or by myself ... a partner, for sure!  Everyday is exciting with Koko.  He's super positive, supportive, patient, & generous with his time... living out His calling and above reproach.  I thank God for His providence in our lives & bringing us together.  Looking forward to minister together onward!

Post-marathon celebration!

A horse carriage ride around Central Park... where Steve proposed!  I got a black hematite ring!  And a beautiful diamond.
